We're always sending products to magazines to let them know what we're up to. As our range changes every six months it's a non stop cycle.

Sometimes we don't even know what happens to them or when they are used. Quite often it's friends who say, "Did you see your stuff in ......". So it's always a nice surprise to open up a mag and unexpectedly see all your clothes splashed over it.

Thank you MBUK. What a welcome to the new year.

Having said that all of the mags and websites we send stuff too have been unquestionably supportive. Nice guys these bike riders it seems.

Shit Mountain Bikers Say

They call it stereotyping for a reason . . .

Think we'll take up snooker or something instead - unless we find a YouTube video entitled "Shit Snooker Players Say".

Top 10 must-ride MTB events. We're in!

We've just been checking out the latest issue of WhatMTB. Thumbing casually through the pages when we come across a feature, "Top 10 must-ride events". What do we find in there? Non other than our own MTB event The Brighton Big Dog! Well, I say our own, but most people know that we are just part of a group of local riders who dedicate time and effort each year to put on an event that, as What MTB put it so well, " . . . is for the perky, up for it, 'I-just-freakin'-love-riding-bikes'" person. Which just so happens to be the same mindset that Morvélo embraces. Funny that.

We'll also take time to mention now that online entries are open and that the event does sell out each year.

Big-dog

So we've just finished patting ourselves on the back when we come across our friend Will, in full Morvélo Unity Kit, showcasing another must-ride event, Black Mountains Three Day. We have been a sponsor of this event since the start, with the appeal of a big backcountry technical stage race getting our MTB competition juices going. We also do their official event jerseys and t-shirts which our suitably heavy metal inspired - 'Back in Black' anyone? Event organiser Bearded Man is superb to work with and knows his onions so it is great to see this exceptional event get the recognition it deserves.

We're honoured to support Cycle a Difference. We hope you can too.

Morvelo-cycle-a-difference

Morvelo are very proud to support Newborns Vietnam and the Cycle a Difference challenge.

Cycle a Difference is the challenge of a lifetime cycling adventure across northwest and central Vietnam in November 2012. This sponsored ride begins in Lao Cai close to the Vietnam boarder with China, with four exhilarating days in the mountains, and ventures onto the historic Ho Chi Minh trail before heading for the famed Hai Van pass. Cycle a Difference is more than a bike trip – it is an inspiring journey with like-minded people who are united by their passion for cycling and making a difference in life.

You will experience epic biking, amazing scenery, towering mountains, cascading rice terraces, the simple rhythms of rural life and the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality, which all combine to make this charitable event exciting and fun. This is an 850 mile ride over 10 days, each day is a new adventure, and the ride finishes with a heroes welcome at the Da Nang Hospital for Women & Children. The highlight is the opportunity to see the special care baby unit that this ride is supporting, meet the doctors and nurses, witness the babies bond with their parents, and experience the moment where language, economics and nationality fall away, allowing you to connect for one cause, as one human being to another, one parent to another.

We were honoured to be asked to design an exclusive t-shirt to commemorate the event. All proceeds go to Newborns Vietnam and are available to buy through our online store now.

Say no to the turbo. #noturbo

We all know the benefits of using a turbo trainer (or rollers) especially over the winter months. A well controlled workout that will, or should, give you race speed come spring time. This applies to all whether you're a road racer or downhill MTB rider. But, and this is a big but in our book, it's not cycling.

We took up cycling because it was fun. Getting out and testing yourself in all conditions and fitness was a beneficial by-product. As such we haven't seen a turbo in years. Sure, our fitness maybe not be quite what it should but the bike handling skills have increased (just think of wet roads and greasy roots) and we've had to T.T.F.U. Spinning away on the spot in our mind destroys the whole point of cycling. The speed, the elements, the wind on your back and grit in your teeth.

We're not pro riders, like the most of us, so have a luxury of not having to spend every waking hour pedaling. Instead we can pick and choose. A we choose being out on the road or trails and not stuck in doors. We're not trying to create a revolution but in these dark winter months we all need some added motivation to head out.

Post up your photos, videos or experiences of you thrashing the hell out of two wheels over winter via Twitter and use the hashtag #noturbo
There's some fun to be had out there.

3 things we like

Flow.
Teamwork.
Chrome rims and skinwall tyres.

As an aside, is it just us that think this combo would look great on MTBs or even disc cross bikes. Always been a big fan of skin wall tyres. BMX companies are doing them again and we need more range other than the Charge one. And they'd look so good with chrome or black rims. Just see how good Dugast or FMB tubs look on carbon rims.

They'll be back . . .

KMP rider Rob Lee and BikeMagic team up.

Bm-7ds

Kinesis Morvélo Project rider Rob Lee has always been a fan of endurance and challenges and his Seven Deadly Spins Project epitomizes just that.

Due to conclude this Summer 2012: Seven Deadly Spins, or 7DS as it is often abbreviated to, was founded by Rob in late 2008. Built as a follow-on to his successful breaking of the South Downs Double record earlier that season, it has grown to include some of the toughest one-day endurance mountain bike challenges in the UK.

Seven Deadly Spins sets out to “take mountain biking back into the mountains” and presents seven challenges around the country aimed at bikers of all levels to consider. Endurance racers can measure themselves against the times of some of the best solo endurance mountain bike athletes, or the toughest hard-as-nails challenges. Alternatively riders of any ability can choose to do the routes over several days and at any pace they choose.

All of the seven rides that make up the final series have been selected for their combination of riding, distance, scenery and variety. All are open access and available to the public on any day of the year. Timing is left to the individual and done on Gentleman’s agreement. Many of today’s top endurance riders in the UK have already taken up the challenge of one or more of the rides.

BikeMagic will feature a 10 part blog covering Rob's advice if you are to undertake some of this enduro landmarks. In addition he'll be doing a full test and training demonstration across three of the challenges with Live online tracker, twitter and blog.

For more details and up to date information check out BikeMagic, Robs Twitter feed @RobLee7ds and of course his KMP Blog

Rouleur Annual Vol.5 - Felix English & Morvélo

Continuing our run of subliminal advertising, Morvélo Test Team rider Felix English is in this years Rouleur Annual (Vol.5) photographed after the hugh effort that is the World Time Trail Championships in Denmark this year, with one of our classic Morvélo stickers adorning his TT lid. It'll be a shame there will be no more of those sticker shenanigans when he comes to ride for Rapha Condor Sharp next year, but we can't hold that against him :-)

Local lad done good!
